Summary
GeoDefense is a fast paced tower defense game which forces you to carefully plan out your tower deployments. You will have to think quickly though as each level will start out slow and progressively pick up speed. Before you know it, the bad guys are everywhere. The game will start off easy and only provide a few towers to deploy. As you progress through the game new towers will be introduced to you with a brief tutorial on how to utilize it and how to strategically deploy it.
Graphics
The vector based graphics are awesome and are a pleasure to look at. As you destroy the bad guys, they will explode into a nice shower of flying particles. The animation and frame rate are for the most part consistent except when the action gets super intense on the screen. Things can get rather bogged down for a few seconds.
Strategy, Strategy, Strategy!
You will probably find yourself making several attempts to finish a board until you figure out a decent tower placement/tower upgrade strategy. As you destroy enemies you will earn money which you can use to purchase more towers or upgrade your existing ones. One of the towers I find interesting is the Vortex tower. This tower absorbs energy from enemies passing by it. You can then link other towers such as your cannons or Laser towers to it. They will then use energy from the Vortex tower to increase their firepower and whoop some enemy ass. You can also choose to let the Vortex tower continue to collect energy and when things get real crazy, you can choose to “pop” it and it will unleash all that stored energy on nearby enemies causing some serious carnage.
Closing
GeoDefense is an awesome package; simple touch controls, awesome retro graphics, and lots of challenging levels to conquer. This game is tons of fun and it will keep you occupied for hours. The level of challenge makes for a rewarding win when you finally complete a level. Go ahead and buy this one if you enjoy tower defense games.
